Jack Nicklaus: The Golden Bear — The Greatest Champion in Golf History

Jack Nicklaus (born January 21, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio) is widely regarded as the greatest professional golfer of all time. Nicknamed "The Golden Bear," Nicklaus won a record 18 major championships over a career spanning three decades — including 6 Masters titles, 5 PGA Championships, 4 U.S. Opens, and 3 Open Championships. His first major came at the 1962 U.S. Open, and remarkably, his last arrived at the 1986 Masters, when he won at age 46 in one of sport's most iconic moments.

Beyond his unmatched playing record, Nicklaus accumulated 73 PGA Tour victories and represented the United States in six Ryder Cups.
