Wren Opens Preorders for the Vessel, a Square Microbrand Debut With a Faceted Sapphire Crystal

The first non-diver from Wren comes in Sunray and Meteorite dials, each limited to 150 pieces.

    Image: Wren

Wren has opened preorders for the Vessel, its first non-diver, with Q1 2027 delivery for the two-dial collection.

Wren describes the front crystal as faceted sapphire and, on the Meteorite page, calls it “a sapphire crystal no one had made before,” with development described as taking two years.

The case is 39mm by 39mm and 10.6mm thick in 904L stainless steel, on an integrated steel bracelet. Inside is the Sellita SW300-1 automatic, running at 28,800 vph with a 56-hour power reserve, and water resistance is 70 meters.

The Vessel Sunray is priced at $2,900, while the Vessel Meteorite is $3,400. Each dial is limited to 150 pieces.

For collectors, the interest is less that another microbrand has gone integrated and more that Wren is putting its debut outside the dive-watch lane behind a visibly custom component. The core proposition is unusually clear: small run, custom crystal, Swiss automatic, and delivery already dated.

    WATCH STORY

Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive U.F.A. Gets a Frost Violet Dial

    The 37mm Evolution 9 case in Ever-Brilliant Steel houses Caliber 9RB2’s ±20 seconds/year precision.

Grand Seiko’s latest Spring Drive U.F.A. arrives in Ever-Brilliant Steel, pairing Caliber 9RB2 with a violet Shinshu dawn dial.

U.F.A. stands for Ultra Fine Accuracy. Grand Seiko rates Caliber 9RB2 to ±20 seconds per year, calling it the most accurate wristwatch movement powered by a mainspring today.

The watch uses a 37mm Evolution 9 case in Ever-Brilliant Steel. The alloy carries a PREN value over 40 and takes on a brighter tone under Zaratsu polishing.

The 9RB2 measures 30mm wide and 5.02mm thick. Its accuracy package relies on a quartz oscillator aged for three months, a vacuum sealed sensor, and a regulation switch for after-sales adjustment.

The dial evokes Shinshu’s pale violet dawn and icy forest texture, avoiding a purely technical presentation. Movement finishing echoes Shinshu’s frost, with jewels arranged like winter stars.
