Ulysse Nardin Lists a New Freak X Blue With an In-House Caliber UN-232

The Freak is the watch Ulysse Nardin built its silicon program around. The Freak X adapted that architecture into a more accessible footprint. A new reference, the Freak X Blue (2323-500-3A/7A), has appeared on the brand’s site, listed at 41 mm.
Ulysse Nardin ties the release to two milestones. The brand notes 2026 marks 180 years of legacy and 25 years of the Freak. It calls the Blue a “complete reengineering of the Freak X,” a project that took over two years.
The centrepiece is Caliber UN-232, presented as an entirely new in-house self-winding movement made at the manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds and, per the brand, assembled start to finish by one watchmaker. The movement packs 216 parts and 27 jewels, beating at 3 Hz with a 72-hour power reserve. Hours and minutes are carried by a flying carousel that turns around its own axis. The balance wheel is oversized silicon, the balance spring silicon, and the escape wheel and anchor are DIAMonSIL. A rose-gold micro-rotor handles winding.
The case construction has changed, too. The brand has shifted from modular titanium to a monobloc case, available in 80% recycled steel or full rose gold, but hasn’t specified which alloy this Blue reference uses. Sibling Gold and Grey entries sit alongside it on the same Ulysse Nardin product page.
Notably absent: price, water resistance, and a launch date. The watch comes with a quick-release strap system and an integrated metal bracelet.
