Seiko's 5 Sports Field Series Gets a Honda Motocompo Limited Edition: 8,000-Piece HDB010

A 36.4mm field watch nods to Honda's cult 1981 Motocompo scooter, and while Seiko's specs are live, Honda hasn't spoken yet.

Collaborations are rare for Seiko’s 5 Sports Field line, making the HDB010 an outlier worth watching. The reference is the Honda Motocompo, a folding scooter from 1981 that has spent four decades as a cult object: small, boxy, and just absurd enough to charm.

Seiko’s German product page lists it as the MOTOCOMPO Limited Edition, capped at 8,000 pieces and priced at 390,00 EUR (UVP). The watch runs on Seiko’s automatic Caliber 4R36 (hand-windable, 24 jewels, roughly 41-hour power reserve). The hard-coated steel case measures 36.4mm wide and 12.5mm thick, with 10-bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. It wears on a nylon strap with 18mm lugs.

The collaboration details are subtle but intentional. Seiko’s page notes a Motocompo silhouette engraved on the case back, along with “Limited Edition” text and an individual serial number. The packaging takes its cues from the scooter’s original shipping carton. The same page does the history homework too, describing the Motocompo as a 42kg machine with a 49cc two-stroke good for 2.5hp, folding handlebars and footpegs, conceived as a companion to Honda’s CITY compact.

Two things collectors should hold onto. Seiko does not publish a release date here. And no Honda-owned press page confirming the tie-up turned up in our research, so for now this is a Seiko-side story.

Seiko’s site also carries HDB005 in the same 5 Sports collection, which points to a capsule rather than a one-off.
