Zenith Fits the El Primero's 5Hz Movement Into a Three-Hand Chronomaster Solo Sport

Four 40mm steel references debut at Geneva Watch Days 2026 with a high-beat El Primero caliber, a new clasp, and no listed price.

The El Primero name has long been tied to Zenith’s chronographs. The Chronomaster Solo Sport breaks that mold. Zenith’s brand page calls the Solo Sport “a new chapter for ZENITH,” one that takes “the iconic El Primero” into what the house describes as a three-hand form. The collection was unveiled at Geneva Watch Days 2026.

The details Zenith does provide are straightforward. The four 40mm stainless steel references share a ceramic rotating bezel and a ceramic dial: sunray white, polished black, polished brown, and a no-date black variant. The movement is described as a 5Hz high-frequency manufacture caliber running at 36,000 vibrations per hour, with roughly 60 hours of power reserve. The no-date model is rated to 20 ATM.

The omissions are the more intriguing part. The English-language brand page omits the caliber number. The figure 3620 sits inside the reference codes and turns up on Zenith’s Spanish product listings, but the English page leaves the movement unnamed. Zenith does not claim this is the first time-only El Primero, so neither will we. And no Zenith page consulted publishes a price, for any of the four.

That produces an odd balance of detail. The clasp, ZENCLASP, gets a paragraph of its own: Zenith calls it “the result of three years of development,” with tool-free micro-adjustment. The caliber that justifies the whole exercise gets a frequency and a number of hours.

Collectors will want the rest, particularly the price against a Chronomaster chronograph. For now, Zenith has not said.
